Toonie Confusion!

Some of the students brought toonies this morning and I asked everyone if it was for popcorn or for the Terry Fox run. As it is also popcorn days (yesterday and today) some of the students who told me their toonie was for Terry Fox in the morning were very upset that they did not have popcorn!

If you intended your child's toonie for popcorn could you please let me know and I will get it to them tomorrow.

Also if you could please send a note for future reference of the intended purpose of the toonie, I would appreciate it!

Hello Parents & Guardians,

It has come to our attention that some people aren’t receiving our messages through SchoolMessenger. There can be a few reasons that cause messages to not be received. Your email provider may be marking our messages as SPAM, check your junk and spam folders. Mark our email addresses as ‘safe’ by putting them in your address book for your email – barocca@cbe.ab.ca for Barb at the office and tkcarstairs@cbe.ab.ca for my email address. If you did not receive an email on September 18^th with the subject “Early Dismissal Reminder” please be sure to follow these steps. 

Your email address can become blocked in SchoolMessenger, our office will search our ‘blocked lists’ and contact you directly (there are only 9). We need your permission to remove the block, just in case you blocked us intentionally.

Updates!

Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow Thursday the 19th and Friday the 20th due to conferences. If you have not booked a conference yet and would like to speak with me please follow the link and instructions in the email that was sent out to you. Alternatively, you can email me and I will let you know what spots I have left.

This week we have been continuing with our practice of different lines; horizontal, vertical, diagonal and others to practice our pre-printing skills. We have also started talking about shapes and practicing drawing them using the whiteboards, tracing on sheets of paper, and building with different materials.

The students have continued to practice identifying, writing, and building the letters in their names and also sing this alphabet song everyday:

Our First Week!

We've had a great week so far in Kindergarten! Just a reminder that the dismissal time tomorrow (and every Friday that your child has school) is at 12:00 pm.

So far we have learned how to sit criss-cross-apple-sauce and raise our hands before we speak. We have been practicing writing and tracing our names and other lines (zig zag, swirl, vertical, horizontal etc.). We enjoyed some center time with play-doh, building, puzzles, and imaginative play.
