This Week!

In math this week we will continue to work on shapes; recognizing them, finding them in the environment, drawing them and working on our fine motor skills by cutting/colouring them. We also created an interactive shape wall that requires students to begin sorting objects. We will continue to work on the skill to enable students to be able to sort objects in a variety of way; by colour, size, and shape.

For literacy we continue to sing our A is for Apple song everyday and have started to brainstorm other words that have the same initial letter sound as the familiar objects from the song. For example. the students know that B is for Ball but have also discovered other words that use the same sound such as banana, box, butterfly, balloon etc. So far we have learned the letter B, D, and P. Starting with letters that have a letter-name pronunciation advantage allows the students to learn the 'easy' letters first. Examples of these letters are B, D, P, J, K, T, V, F, L, M, N, R, and S.

Just a reminder that my class does NOT have school this Friday, October the 4th. Have a great week!
